In Liikenneturva’s 2025 youth survey, one in four respondents aged 15–24 said they had ridden an electric scooter while drunk at least once. Riding a scooter under the influence is viewed more leniently than drink-driving. Liikenneturva wanted young people to consider how their choices affect those close to them too. The story needed to hold their interest even when safety advice did not feel personally relevant.
Tonto and Jussi OO developed the script with Liikenneturva. The relationship between the young characters was the starting point: viewers needed to care about them for their future to matter. The accident affects both the injured person and their partner, their shared plans and the life they had expected. The film does not spell out where they should have acted differently. Young viewers recognise that for themselves.
The film is based on a real accident. It forms part of teaching material for lower and upper secondary education developed by Liikenneturva, HUS, the Emergency Response Centre Agency and Helsinki City Rescue Department. The aim is for every young person in Finland to reflect on their choices in traffic with a teacher. Tasks and discussion between the film’s four episodes invite students to relate events to their own lives.
